Being A Boy Mom

No one prepares you for this. Being a boy mom. Any danty things you like can just go out the window. And if you were dreaming of having a bunch of pink or blinged out items around the house, throw that out the window too! I love the girly items, but for me, my reality has to do with farts, any annoying sounds, sports and cars.

When they are little its still so cute, and then it feels like in a blink of an eye it’s over. And I will say being in the middle of a pandemic with no where to go with an eight year old boy is something else. The clothes he choses to put on are either one of two extremes; very plain and simple or very flashy (like his pop). Most days in the house he’s in black sweats and a t-shirt. B-O-R-I-N-G! Or maybe he’s in nothing but his underwear and his oversized fuzzy bathrobe. I have to remind him all the time to get dressed in the morning, it’s more of a chore than a natural thing for him to do.

What is is with boys and shows that are disgusting? I need to know. Captain Underpants, Dog Man, thank goodness we were able to get him out of Boss Baby (a grown man in a baby’s body was just weird). And apps that are just as gross if not worse. He literally just downloaded an app called Fart Simulator. REALLY!!!! Who comes up with this sh*t? How are we going to be able to get our boys to grow up as mature, kind, and polite men if they grow up watching and playing games that go against that? And the decent options aren’t “cool” so it makes it harder to get them interested in. I don’t know, just a thought. Actually, this is really just a venting post because boy moms have some serious stuff to deal with. Not saying moms of girls don’t, because I can’t imagine thinking about a daughter with periods and boy problems either.

I want to hear from some other boy moms on what they find works for them and what is most annoying. We have to start normalizing these challenges more. I know it will help me feel better because I never imagined having to explain why washing your a$$ was good for you, why putting on clothes is better than walking around in your undies and how going to blow your nose out will sound better than hearing all the boogies when you sniffle. Also, how do you find ways to get your boys active with so many things still shut down due to the pandemic? This is one of those ones that I continue to struggle to find a consistent balance with. Yes we go to the park as a family and do exercises and race each other but what about at home when going to the park isn’t an option? I need some thoughts and ideas on what else can be done! Where my boy mommas at? Let me hear from you šŸ™‚

  1. Gurl my son loves himself some hot mess gross shows. Guilty house though we love boss baby lol. All the games and shows are either gross or violent. I found that having an outlet to other things than screen time helps put in a break or too. But Iā€™m open to suggestions as well.

    1. Yes the gross stuff right!!! Sometimes I make him play board games or uno with me or as a family when we all can…he might huff and puff at first but then he gets over it and ends up having fun it’s pretty hilarious!
