Never Be Ashamed Of Being You

Isn’t it funny how you can have a whole army of people around you when you are at your lowest…and then when you start coming up from being so far down, your army starts to slowly dissolve. Of course you’ve heard a statement similar to what was just said, but have you also experienced it? I have heard about this happening to some of my momma friends, and yes, of course I have experienced it. I think it’s crazy when you don’t even realize what’s happening until you see a drastic difference in the way you navigate and maneuver through your day to day.

Change is not easy for some, maybe for others, but not for all. It can be scary, emotional, confusing and overwhelming. Life has layers to it, and they way we peel them back is on us. I truly believe we are put in positions for a reason, we are pushed to elevate and change for a reason. Something I had to understand when I was growing, evolving and changing was that it was MY journey. It wasn’t anyone else’s…so when I realized who and what was left around me…and continues to happen, is that if someone doesn’t understand, or support or love me regardless of what my own personal experiences are then that’s fine! It’s NOT theirs.

Isn’t it funny how people around you change when you are getting things you couldn’t afford before, when you are going places and having new experiences. Isn’t it funny how they say YOU are the one that changed when your character hasn’t changed only some positions you get or scenery you experience. Isn’t it funny how what you like to buy affects the way others perceive you? To you it may not, to you, you have earned and are able to enjoy things and it should be nice right? But it comes with unwanted energy.

I respect whatever someone else wants to do, move or think…and I am ok with that being different from how I might do things, move or think. We are called individuals because of this. I am not about to start blocking my own blessings by being upset or negative with what someone else has going on…I just don’t see the reason to be that way. But some do. Some people can’t help it. And then it comes back to how do we cope with this behavior that’s unwanted?

For us women a lot of times more than we want to admit, or even do, is internalize something that doesn’t affect or change anything for us one way or another. There are so many women that hold on to negative thoughts, negative feelings and are so judgmental for NO reason. We tend to put each other down more than we uplift and cheer on. A woman could be changing for the better, making smarter moves, better decisions and overall have a glow to her that makes her feel good, and she could be surrounded by other women that are giving her a side eye and questioning more that congratulating. It’s sad, yes, it’s disheartening, but it’s common for way too many. It’s also something that we, as the women and mommas growing can’t change. We have to let go of things we cannot control.

My words of encouragement for mommas and women that have and are experiencing this…

  • Don’t stop elevating yourself and your family
  • Don’t stop being who you are because of what someone else doesn’t understand
  • Don’t be ashamed of being in a better position than you were in the past
  • Don’t worry about your army getting smaller, sometimes it’s better that way
  • Don’t stop trusting in what you are doing and who you are becoming
  • Don’t stop celebrating your own victories, small and big accomplishments
  • Don’t stop wanting better for yourself and your family
  • Don’t be afraid to stand out and be bold
