21 Feb Feeling Bad With Our Own Moments
The roll of a mom comes with multiple hats right…we all know or have heard this. The list of job descriptions, the estimate of what a mother is worth blah blah blah. To us mommas it can be pretty amusing because we are living it every day. We also have daily emotions, thoughts, fears, concerns etc…
Sometimes I stop to wonder why do us mommas have guilt when we have our emotions? There are so many articles and studies on mom guilt but everyone’s environment is different, lifestyles are different so it’s hard to pin point what might be a trigger for one might not be a trigger for another. And that’s the thing, understanding triggers, things that move us to feel or act a certain way. Until we can stop and understand that we might not ever figure it out for ourselves.
An article I read on healthline.com during the beginning of the pandemic gave a good perspective and overview on how to navigate through these moments. Knowing your truth, guarding your inner circle with people you trust and having support and encouragement was what I took away from this article. It’s inspiring and refreshing. That doesn’t mean moments won’t continue to happen. That doesn’t stop moments from happening. It’s ok to have feelings, emotions and someone else not understand them. We have to stop and remember they are our feelings and emotions not anyone else’s.
Another article on betterup.com not only touched on the previous tips but gave some more questions us mommas should be asking ourselves. For example, are we spending too much time on social media, are we expecting too much of ourselves, do we have judgy family members that trigger moments or are we taking breaks when we need them. These sound so simple right? But I know for a fact that a lot of us mommas don’t do this all the time. We don’t stop to think about what should seem like something simple and adjustable. Sometimes we need outside reminders. And that’s ok! There’s nothing wrong with reading or hearing that we should stop to focus on us and help improve our own mental. We are so busy taking care of others, making sure our husband and spouses are good, the house is good, the kids are good, sometimes we fail at making sure we are good.
